Your task is to:

1.
Read this web page before you do anything!


2.
Your facilitator/instructor will assign you into 5 groups.

3.
Watch these movies to get a background on soil:

Video Two "The Soil Beneath Your Feet"

4.
Work through the matching worksheets:
Worksheet One "Get The Dirt On Soil"
Worksheet Two "The Soil Beneath Your Feet"

5.
Obtain a copy of the land description for the parcel of land you will be using in your SoilQuest.

6.
Go to the Process section for your assigned Land Use Groups.

7.
Click on the Glossary link to reveiw and better understand terms you may not be familiar with.

8.
Research your stakeholder interests to determine what you want and need from the land.
You will research using the links provided for each Land Use group. You will prepare a Graphic Organizer of your findings which must be handed in to your facilitator/instructor.

9.
As a Land Use group develop a solution allowing each stakeholder to continue their pursuits while balancing the economic, social and environmental aspects of the land.

10.
Design a presentation (e.g. brochure, pamphlet, mural, PowerPoint, role playing/skit, or poster) clearly showing how all stakeholders can work together.

11.
Present your findings to the Land Use Commission.You will be evaluated on your presentation based on the rubric in the Evaluation section.


In order for the Land Use Commission to understand all the soil (Land Use) issues within the parcel of land, your presentation must accurately and completely represent your stakeholder group. Please refer to the Evaluation section for a rubric describing how you will be evaluated.
